New Port in Larnaca

The project will have a capacity of approximately 800—1000 vessels. The development plan also entails an improvement of the surrounding area and its infrastructure, and includes construction of hotels, apartments, parks, bicycle lanes, shops, restaurants and cafes.

Construction of the new port will be undertaken by the Zenon Consortium, and will cost around 200 million euros.

The building of Cyprus’ other new Marina in Limassol is rapidly progressing. The first phase of the project will be completed in 2012.

The Jet Set Favours Cyprus

"Today we see a great demand for exclusive luxury real estate; it is connected with the formation of a privileged class of buyers, many of whom are Russians. The Cyprus market has increasingly focused on people with high incomes. This is facilitated by a number of reasons: one of the most agreeable climates in Europe (with 11 out of 12 months a year enjoying brilliant sunshine), excellent infrastructure, security, medicine, education, financial and political stability and, of course, a favourable climate for foreign business",- comments CEO of ReLux Estates, Roman Starikovich.

Indeed, the acquisition of expensive real estate on the island contributes to the very system of law. By buying a home from 300,000 Euros, a foreign buyer can obtain permanent residence status. Subsequently, the residence permit gives buyers the possibility to acquire citizenship. In turn, the Bank supports small and medium-size businesses, gives generous loans to developers and provides soft loans to foreigners, which ultimately makes the island more attractive to stay in.

Cyprus- the land of Skyscrapers?

Note that the island already has a number mini-skyscrapers; in Nicosia, the 45-meter "Shacolas Tower" and the "Eagle House", and in Limassol the "Nikolaos Pentadromos Center", "Kanika Centre" and "Karaolis Centre", as well as the residential complex "Olympic Residence" (about 16 storeys.) However, the height of the above buildings does not exceed 20 storeys. Today, the government of Cyprus is seriously thinking to use the opportunity to build high-rise buildings in order to save space. Given that land and property in Cyprus are in steady demand from investors, it can be a great way to regulate this issue.
