Official statistics published by Cypriot authorities show that in the first month of 2011, foreigners have made about 170 real estate deals, considered to be almost 80% more than in January 2009. The total number of transactions in the property market in March amounted to six hundred twenty-five units.
Cyprus has always been a popular destination for foreign investors, the majority of whom are British citizens, whose number decreased markedly during the global economic crisis.
Meanwhile, the number of Russian buyers among the foreigners who purchase property in Cyprus continues to grow.
Particularly popular among Russians buyers are luxury properties, as there has been a noticeable demand for villas, studios and maisonettes.
